The manufacturing process of granite components is relatively complex. Seven representative granite types commonly found on the market are: Jinan Green, Qilu Red, General Red, Hibiscus Green, Wulianhua, Pingdu White, and my country Gray Marble. Polishing experiments were conducted on these seven marble types using a handheld grinder under standardized grinding conditions using different polishing stones. The composition and properties of nine polishing stones were also tested, and their effects on the surface gloss of each marble type were analyzed.
Threaded connections in granite components should be secured with anti-loosening devices to ensure stability. Common anti-loosening measures can be used, such as double nuts, spring washers, cotter pins, retaining washers, and round nuts with flower washers, depending on actual design requirements. For symmetrically arranged bolts, tighten them in a symmetrical sequence. For bar connectors, tighten them symmetrically from the center toward the ends. Furthermore, when bolting, the thread ends should slightly protrude from the nut.
Additional gap treatment after granite component assembly not only enhances the product's aesthetics but also maintains its overall precision. Granite is primarily composed of silicon dioxide (SiO₂ > 65%). Other elements such as Fe₂O₃, FeO, and MgO are typically less than 2%, and CaO is less than 3%.
Maintenance Tips for Extending the Lifespan of Granite Components
After use, the working surface of the granite component should be cleaned. A neutral detergent is recommended to avoid surface damage.
Many people use granite components but neglect certain maintenance details, which shortens their lifespan.
When purchasing granite components, price is certainly important, but product quality is even more important. High-quality granite components are more expensive but offer long-term stability.
The working surface should be kept clean and free of grit and impurities. Gently rub with a sponge to avoid scratching the surface.
Users should understand the unique characteristics of granite components and use them appropriately based on the desired processing results.
If the measuring tool platform has a stable, high-hardness surface, is dust-resistant, and has a uniform density, then the granite component is of reliable quality and worth choosing.
Inspection Methods for Granite Components
There are two main methods for inspecting granite components: platform inspection and instrument measurement. The platform inspection method typically uses a flat plate as a reference workbench, upon which measuring tools and auxiliary tools such as workpieces, small square irons, square boxes, and cylindrical squares are placed to measure the component. By leveraging the properties of cylinders and steel balls, which have equal radii in all directions and the contact point radius perpendicular to the contact surface, accurate height measurements can be made at various locations, achieving high-precision inspection.
Granite components are widely used in the measurement of precision mechanical parts. During the production process, care should be taken to protect the rough marble and handle it with care to prevent breakage.
Packaging and Transportation of Granite Components
Appropriate packaging is crucial for fragile granite components and is directly related to whether the product reaches the customer intact. The general approach is:
Wrap the granite surface with 1 cm thick foam paper.
Place the component in a wooden box, and pad the interior with 0.5 cm thick foam board.
After packaging, add a layer of foam paper to the outside of the box for protection.
The wooden box can be placed inside the cardboard box, or the cardboard box can be placed outside the wooden box. The appropriate method of transportation depends on the conditions.
For transportation, choose a reputable, large logistics company and label the outer packaging with a "Fragile, Handle with Care" warning.
Through scientific assembly, testing, and routine maintenance, granite components can maintain high precision and stable performance over the long term, providing reliable support for industrial production.
