As the "foundation" of precision equipment, every step of treatment before shipment affects its arrival status. Among them, surface oiling seems simple, but it is actually a key link to protect the performance of the base. The following explains the core points of this process from the purpose of oiling, oil selection skills to operation details:
一. Oiling is not "redundant", but 4-fold protection
"Rust-proof" for metal parts
The mounting screws, positioning pins and other metal parts on the base are prone to rust when exposed to humid air (especially in coastal areas) during transportation. The thin oil layer can isolate water vapor and oxygen, which is equivalent to adding a layer of "protective film" to the metal parts to prevent rust from affecting installation after arrival.
Reduce "friction damage" during transportation
During transportation or bumps, the surface of the base may rub against the packaging material. The oil layer can reduce friction, especially protecting the precision-machined working surface (roughness Ra≤0.63μm) to avoid scratches that affect accuracy.
Block dust and save cleaning effort
During long-distance transportation, dust and sand in the truck may adhere to the surface of the base. The viscosity of the oil layer can reduce the adsorption of impurities. After arrival, you only need to wipe it simply to use it, eliminating the trouble of deep cleaning.
Maintain gloss and look online
For granite with gloss requirements (such as "Jinan Green" black stone), special maintenance oil can enhance the surface reflectivity, avoid the dull gloss caused by drying during transportation, and maintain the beautiful state when it arrives.

Rust prevention first: For bases with many metal parts, "thin layer anti-rust oil" (such as model RP-3) is preferred, and the anti-rust period can reach 6 months;
No corrosion to stone: Avoid oils containing acidic components (such as some mechanical lubricants), and choose neutral mineral oil or stone special maintenance oil (containing nano protective ingredients) to avoid surface discoloration;
Easy to clean: Choose oil with moderate volatility (such as light white oil), which can be wiped off with alcohol or special detergent later without leaving oil marks.
Tips to avoid: edible oil (easy to oxidize and become sticky) and gear oil (too viscous and difficult to clean) are prohibited.
四. Oiling operation: 3 steps to achieve "not too much, not too little, just enough protection"
Must-do before coating: Thorough cleaning
Wipe the surface with a lint-free cloth dipped in a neutral detergent (such as soapy water), clean the gaps with a soft brush, then wipe it with clean water, and let it dry completely (at least 2 hours) - a wet surface will cause the oil layer to adhere unevenly.
Application skills: thin and even
Dip oil with a lint-free cotton cloth (the oil should not be too much, wring it out before applying), and wipe the entire surface in the same direction, including corners and metal parts;
Key areas: Apply a little more to the inner wall of the installation hole and the screw head, as these places are most likely to rust.
Finishing: Ventilation and drying
After coating, place it in a cool and ventilated place for 1-2 hours to allow the oil layer to "solidify" to avoid immediate packaging that may cause the oil layer to be wiped off or contaminated with dust.
Fourth, after arrival: properly handle the oil layer, it will not affect the use.
Cleaning time: wipe the oil before installation, cleaning too early may lose protection;
Cleaning method: wipe gently with non-woven cloth dipped in alcohol or kerosene, spray a small amount of stone degreaser for stubborn oil stains, wipe it clean with a dry cloth;
Note: do not completely wipe off the oil on the metal parts, keep a thin layer to continue rust prevention until the official installation.
